Welcome to this world, beautiful Lucia!

On Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 6:36 pm the Lord blessed us with a beautiful and healthy little daughter, Lucia Grace Fernandez. She weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and measured 20 inches long.

On August 14, 2002 I made a decision that would change my life forever. I had just moved to the West Coast after finishing grad school at Yale. I hardly knew anyone and reluctantly decided to try my luck with online dating. After a quick search I saw the picture of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I almost didn't email her as I thought to myself "what are the chances that: a) she's real and not a 40-yr old dude faking the online profile; and b) that she would reply to my email. I took a leap of faith and emailed her. She had just turned 22 the day before and to my surprise, a few hours later I got an email back from her, the woman who would become my wife and now the wonderful mother of my daughter.

Most of you may already know the story so I will skip some of the details. Just as Belinda walked into my life when I least expected it, lighting up my world with her beautiful smile, Lucia arrived into our lives bringing out the most amazing feelings in us that any person can ever feel.

Belinda has admitted that she's not very good at writing and to be honest, neither am I. We created this blog to keep family and friends close with our family as we grow and also to record all the feelings, emotions and stories that we'll start to gather as new parents because as I have heard over and over, time flies and we want to remember every bit of this wonderful stage we are so blessed to experience.

Our little Lucia turns one week today and it is amazing how much she's already changed in this first week. Here are a few pictures of this first week of our new lives as parents.
